Social software such as Blogs, Wikis, communities and podcasts are indispensable tools of the modern communication mix of politics and administration, and provide valuable opportunities for addressing specific target groups.

So the regular video podcast of the Federal Chancellor has become a reliable and oft-cited source of information for citizens and the media. By means of selective articles even other departments, such as, amongst others, the Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee, focus on concrete information which is presented in an up-to-date format. The Bertelsmann Foundation regularly tasks top-class professionals with its monthly audio podcast. The community software ]init[ SocialWebSuite forms the basis of the platform CommIO of the Federal Foreign Office and the IRR-Network of the Bertelsmann Foundation.
