eGovernment pioneer Finland joins the ranks of re-users of SEMIC.EU, the integrated internet portal, database and collaboration system developed by ]init[ for the European Commission’s Semantic Interoperability Centre Europe.
The Finnish Ministry of Finance has opted for the open-source platform and repository as the perfect solution for its needs. The system will be customised as a workflow-driven collaboration space.
]init[‘s services to the Ministry including the customisation of software components are provided jointly by the Consulting, Portal, and Business Applications domains within ]init[‘s portfolio.
Like its European precursor, the Finnish solution will include a forum and user administration with single sign-on functionality, a powerful search engine, and a collaborative versioning and quality assurance process for the stored contents.
The original SEMIC.EU is optimised for web-based access to data exchange enablers like data schemes, terminologies and code lists (referred to as “interoperability assets”). The Finnish variety will support the sharing of single files of various formats in addition to the ZIP archives used at SEMIC.EU as packages of exchange formats, documentation and licences.
Like the XGenerator and XRepository, SEMIC.EU is one of ]init[’s leading open source based eGovernment solutions.
